Women’s Protest in Taiz Demands Improved Services and an End to Water and Electricity Crisis

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The city of Taiz (southwest Yemen) witnessed a women-led protest on Saturday in front of the governorate building, denouncing the deterioration of basic services, particularly water and electricity outages and worsening living conditions.

The demonstrators held up signs calling on local authorities and the government to take responsibility for citizens’ needs and to provide at least the minimum essential services, especially as summer approaches and temperatures rise.

Protesters carried empty water containers and lanterns, symbolizing their daily struggle to access water and electricity. They stressed that the ongoing crisis is deepening the suffering of families and threatening the stability of life in the city.

This demonstration is part of a broader wave of ongoing public protests in Taiz and Aden, demanding improved public services and an end to the prolonged economic and living crises.
