Aden Security Directorate announced on Wednesday the arrest of four primary suspects in the assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman al-Shaer, in addition to seizing the weapons used in the operation and the vehicle used by the perpetrators.
The directorate revealed in a statement that the first suspect was apprehended in Al-Sheikh Othman district, while two others were arrested in Abyan Governorate. The fourth suspect was detained in cooperation with the 3rd “Support and Reinforcement” Brigade.
The statement explained that preliminary investigation results found an organized cell was behind the assassination, and had further planned to target a number of preachers and mosque imams through prior surveillance and monitoring.
Aden Security further disclosed that another cell linked to the case was uncovered, with several of its members already arrested, noting that investigations are ongoing to reveal the remaining individuals associated with the group.
The Directorate emphasized that the pursuit of the remaining fugitive elements continues, pointing out that “press scoops” by some media professionals hinder the progress of arrest operations.
It called upon everyone to exercise accuracy and responsibility and to rely on official sources to preserve the integrity of the procedures and the course of justice.
