Yemeni Prime Minister Discusses Detainee Exchange Arrangements with the Red Cross

The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shayea Mohsen Al-Zindani, received today, Monday, in the temporary capital, Aden, the Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen, Christine Cipolla, to discuss the latest developments in the humanitarian file, foremost of which are the arrangements for implementing the detainee exchange agreement.
During the meeting, Cipolla reviewed the final procedures that the Committee is working to complete in preparation for implementing the agreement, alongside the efforts it is making to facilitate the exchange process between the parties.
Al-Zindani emphasized that the government places the file of prisoners and abductees among its national and humanitarian priorities, praising the role played by the ICRC in supporting humanitarian efforts related to this file, and stressing the importance of continuing pressure to ensure serious engagement by the Houthi militia with the issue of detainees.
The meeting also addressed the developments of the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the government and the International Committee in a manner that contributes to improving the response to humanitarian needs across various regions.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs listened to a presentation given by the Head of the Delegation on the Committee’s most prominent programs, field activities, and the scale of its humanitarian interventions in a number of sectors, while Cipolla expressed her appreciation for the existing cooperation with the government, stressing the importance of continued joint coordination for the success of humanitarian programs and supporting efforts aimed at addressing humanitarian files, foremost of which is the prisoners’ file.
